“AT THE HEART OF MATURE FEMININITY IS A FREEING DISPOSITION TO AFFIRM, RECEIVE AND NURTURE STRENGTH AND LEADERSHIP FROM WORTHY MEN IN WAYS APPROPRIATE TO A WOMAN’S DIFFERING RELATIONSHIPS.” – John Piper
- This definition helps us understand much regarding femininity as defined by Biblical commands, principles and examples.
- Biblical femininity’s responsibility is also controlled by love (I Cor 16:14).
- Femininity is a freeing disposition. That is, it is not a restrictive, oppressive burden, but rather a liberating force to be creative under authority.
- Biblical femininity does not only experience the leadership of biblical masculinity, it advocates it. (I Sam 25:23-24)
- Biblical femininity can appeal the decisions of someone in authority while retaining godly womanhood (I Sam 25:28).
- Biblical femininity gladly accepts the initiative and leadership of godly men.
- Biblical femininity actively partners with man to increase his strength (Proverbs 31:10-24).
- Biblical femininity is not impaired by immature masculinity (I Peter 3:1-6). She does not affirm the ungodly rule of unworthy men, however she can still submit to God through sinful men. She will stop short of submitting to sinful directives, though.
- She can advocate and affirm strength and leadership where it is found.
- Biblical femininity will determine the differing ways in which she affirms, receives and nurtures strength from worthy men. A lady might have several differing situations in her life – home, work, church. Godly wisdom helps her discern how to apply biblical womanhood in each situation.
