    Parents dishonour and disrespect their children when they play favourites among their children, exalting some and ignoring or despising the others.
  • Not keeping promises
  • Relentless pressure to succeed
  • Not allowing genuine discussion or appeal

4) Love

  • Neglect
  • A Lack of physical affection
  • Perfectionistic standards or performance-based love

5) Words

  • Exaggeration
  • Mocking or name-calling
  • Lack of encouraging words

Five categories in which parents can easily provoke, exasperate, and discourage their children:

  1. Mom and Dad
    • lack of marital harmony
    • divided authority
    • child-centred parenting
    • hypocrisy and double standards
    • allowing manipulation
  2. Discipline
    • inconsistent discipline
    • over- or under-discipline
    • disciplining in anger
    • ending discipline on a negative note
    • unjust hidings
  3. Disrespect
    • favouritism
    • not keeping promises
    • relentless pressure to succeed
    • not allowing genuine discussion or appeal
  4. Love
    • neglect due to parental distraction
    • lack of affection
    • perfectionistic standards
  5. Words
    • exaggeration
    • mocking, name-calling
    • lack of encouraging words
